Inappropriate material

Year 12,
Unfortunately some students, outside of school, have shot some inappropriate material. Please do not do this. It is a sure way to get yourselves kicked off of the course or excluded from school.
If you see any inappropriate material being shot or edited outside of school e.g. on Facebook or Youtube, please report it immediately.
All groups must now submit a Risk Assessment form before continuing with their projects.

Checklist for AS into A2 Task

AS into A2 Summer Task

AS into A2 Media Studies Summer Term Task
Your task
In a group, plan, film and edit a short film.
Why you’re doing this
Next year, 50% of your grade will come from your production which is likely to be a short film or music promo package. By completing this mini film project you will learn how to use or practise with the cameras, transfer your footage to the editing system, edit it and produce it. You will also learn about timekeeping, planning and working as part of a team. Hopefully this activity will also give you an opportunity to find out who you work best with.
As you all produced the Music Magazine/Print Portfolio for AS we will work on the basis that everyone is a beginner in film production therefore the opening lesson will commence with familiarisation with the equipment. You will then divide into groups of 3 or 4 to complete the task.
Examples of previous films can be found in the Summer Task Folder in Media on the HLP.
The requirements:
• Film should be 1-2 minutes in length
• The task should be started with some research into similar short films either those linked from the HLP above, Channel 4 or BBC or Screenonline.
• Your film must depict one of the following emotions: anger, frustration, joy, sadness, fear, anticipation or another agreed idea.
• It must be planned, scripted and storyboarded.
• examples of other short films
• It must use music – as performance or soundtrack.
• It must have titles or captions
• It must have at least one spoken or sung element
• It must include at least an extreme close up, a close up, a mid-shot, a long shot, a tracking shot, a range of angles, and also show different pace of camera movement, varied transitions and edits.
• Mise en scene must be organised, planned and appropriate.
• A Blog for the task should be set up and maintained throughout the task.
Those All Important Rules and Regulations
You must attend and register in all timetabled lessons in V5, but during many of those lessons you will be able to work on the film in the school grounds, always making sure that you are mindful of other school activities. You should also get into the habit of working outside of lessons on the film; otherwise you won’t finish on time! Also remember you need to book the cameras, tripods, editing equipment etc. in advance. You are timetabled for 4 sessions per week and you should aim to complete the filming and editing by Friday, 2nd July ready for viewing presentations the following week.
